Major Scam Exposed in Bank Recruitment

Bargarh: A significant recruitment scandal has emerged at the Sambalpur District Central Cooperative Bank (SDCCB), where it is alleged that numerous employees obtained their positions through fraudulent educational credentials. The issue was brought to light by Attabira MLA Nihar Ranjan Mahanand during a session in the state Assembly, leading to the commencement of an official investigation.

Reports indicate that several employees presented counterfeit academic records and degree certificates from various institutions to gain employment at the bank. Alarmingly, some of those implicated in this scheme have already received promotions within the organization.

As part of the ongoing inquiry, Kamakhya Prasad Mahananda, a Class IV employee, has been suspended. The qualifications of other staff members are currently being scrutinized, and further dismissals are anticipated based on the investigation's outcomes. A special investigation team (SIT) has been established to verify the credentials of all 174 employees at the bank, reaching out to universities both within Odisha and beyond to validate the submitted documents.

Bank CEO Bhakteshwar Mallik confirmed that the verification process was initiated following complaints about fraudulent educational certificates. "So far, the documents of 93 out of 174 employees have been verified. We expect to complete the remaining checks by the end of this month," Mallik stated.
